Hot-shooting Prospect prevails
Prospect’s girls basketball team reached double digits in wins, and almost did the same in 3-pointers on Friday night at Elk Grove.
The Knights (10-1, 2-1) connected for nine 3’s en route to a 50-28 victory over the Grenadiers in the Mid-Suburban East contest.
Taylor Will (game-high 19 points) hit four 3-pointers while her sister Haley (9 points) had 3 and Mallory Gonzalez (6 points) added 2.
Catherine Sherwood added 14 points for the Knights, who raced to a 22-5 lead after one quarter.
“Obviously, we got off to a nice start,” said Prospect coach Ashley Graham. “We’ve been working hard on zone offense the past few days and the kids executed wonderfully.
“You’ve got to be happy with nine 3-pointers. That really opens up the inside-outside game and forced them to go to man-to-man defense, which we are accustomed to seeing.
“I’m proud of the kids offensively and defensively. It’s a good way to go into the Dundee-Crown tournament and the Christmas break.”
Junior Amber Lindfors led the Grens (3-7, 0-3) with 12 points.
Conant 62, Hoffman Estates 29: Nireet Dillon (9 points), Sarah Mazurek (16 pts, 3 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals), Lexi Zades (7 points), Brie Murphy (4 rebounds), Haley Anderson (10 points, 4 rebounds), Alissa Wachal (8 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists) and Jorie Wachal (3 rebounds) were among the leaders for visiting Conant which improved to 6-5 and 2-1 in the MSL West.
