Step back to '20s with White Ghost Shivers at ECC

The White Ghost Shivers will transform Elgin Community College's SecondSpace Theatre into a 1920s nightclub on Feb. 4-5. The group will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4 and 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5 at the theater, located in the ECC Arts Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Based in Austin, Texas, and a regular in that city's renowned South by Southwest music festival, White Ghost Shivers revels in the string-band music of the 1920s and '30s as it mixes vaudeville, hokum blues, hillbilly swing, country, and hot jazz into a sublime musical concoction. The ensemble's live performances have been described as outrageous.

Tickets are $25 for the Feb. 4 show and $20 for Feb. 5. Guests will have the option of purchasing a preshow dinner on Feb. 4 or a flapper-themed "super-bowl" party on Feb. 5 prepared by ECC's Culinary Arts and Hospitality Program for an additional $21.

Dinners must be purchased in advance by Wednesday, Feb. 1.

Tickets for all performances in the ECC Arts Center are available online at tickets.elgin.edu or at the ECC box office located in the arts center.
