Glenbard superintendent finalist for Moline post
Glenbard High School District 87 Superintendent Mike Meissen is a finalist for another superintendent job — an announcement that comes just days after he withdrew his name as a top contender for a similar role in Michigan.
Meissen is one of five finalists for the superintendent position in Moline School District 40, and was expected to interview with school board members, the Quad Cities Times reported this week.
Last week, Meissen interviewed with officials at L'Anse Creuse Public Schools in Harrison Township, a suburb just north of Detroit. He was one of three finalists, but withdrew his name from consideration following interviews there.
Meissen has been searching for a new job after announcing last August that this school year would be his last in Glenbard. He was hired in 2006 after serving as a high school principal near Madison, Wis.
He hasn't publicly discussed his reasons for stepping down, while emphasizing that he remains focused on his job through June 30, when his contract expires.
According to the published report, the other finalists in the Moline school district are Diep Nguyen, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction for Evanston High School District 202; Lanty McGuire, the Moline school district's assistant superintendent of human resources; Lonny Lemon, superintendent for Quincy Public School District 172; and David Moyer, superintendent for the Burlington Area School District in Wisconsin.
Moline's District 40 has 12 elementary schools, two middle schools, a high school, alternative high school, early childhood education center and special education center.
The Moline school board is expected to make a decision March 1.
