Grant opens tourney with victory
Grant 4, Harvard 1: The Bulldogs won their opening game in their own tournament, as Andrea Noda scored 2 goals. Emilio Salinas and Daniel Villa added 1 goal apiece. Noda also made 2 assists, and Andres Velarde added one.
Grant improved to 3-0 overall.
Grayslake North 2, St. Charles East 1: Sophomore Arnaud Laroche-Bataille scored the game-winning penalty kick to give the Knights the win and improve their record to 2-1.
Laroche-Bataille also assisted sophomore Sintayehu Meyer, who put the final touch on the first goal of the match. Senior goalkeeper Richard Klarck made 16 saves, including two during the penalty kick shootout.
Lakes 2, Waukegan 2: Brian Werchek had a goal and an assist for Lakes (2-2-1).
Werchek passed to John Stanley, who scored his third goal of the season. Werchek then got an assist from Scott Brugioni to score. Goalkeeper Will Hill had 10 saves for the Eagles.
Lake Zurich 1, Barrington 1: Jose Corral, assisted by Jake Changelon, struck in the first half for the Bears in the Barrington tournament.
Lake Zurich (2-0-1) remained undefeated.
Wheaton Warrenville South 3, Warren 2: Michal Szczepanek and Andrew Piotrowski scored goals for the Blue Devils in the Barrington tournament. Alex Brunell and Brandon Brown had the assists.
Round Lake 2, Highland Park 2: Mauricio Salgado and Jordi Rubio scored goals for the Panthers.
Luis Leon had 6 saves in net for Round Lake (4-2).
Grayslake Central 1, McHenry 0: The Rams' Caleb Longenecker scored the game-winning goal - his third of the season. Kevin Anderson made 6 saves in net for Grayslake Central (3-1, 2-0).
Glenbrook South 6, Vernon Hills 0: Andy Clark made 21 saves in goal for Vernon Hills, which falls to 0-4 on the season.
Libertyville 2, Glenbrook North 0: At the Libertyville Township Soccer Complex, Shane Reilly and Miles McNeir scored goals and Andrew Bitta worked in goal to give the Wildcats the shutout and improve their record to 4-0.
Griffin Pils and Sam Kaplan had assists for the Wildcats.
