Vietnam veteran to speak on 'Value of the Veteran Voice' Nov. 12

McHenry County College will host Vietnam veteran and former DePaul University professor James Brask, Ph.D., who will present "Oral History and War Memory: The Value of the Veteran Voice" from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, in Room B166-167 at the college, 8900 Route 14, in Crystal Lake.

The lecture, in honor of Veteran's Day, is part of MCC's Journey Home project, a series of humanities-based courses. These courses include written and oral histories and educational mentoring partnerships focused on the veteran experience, particularly the transition from soldier to civilian.

These efforts are sponsored by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information about The Journey Home Project at MCC, contact instructors Todd Culp at tculp@mchenry.edu or Mark Waters at mwaters@mchenry.edu.
