Find native plants for your garden at May 5 sale in Crystal Lake
The Wildflower Preservation and Propagation Committee will hold its Native Plant Sale from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5, in the McHenry County College cafeteria (indoors), 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake. There will be more than 150 species available, with native plants for every environment: prairie, savanna, woodland and wetland. Quantities are limited. Most plants cost $3.50 to $7.
There also will be organic heirloom garden vegetables and herbs from W&M Landcorp Organic Nursery.
Come early for the best selection. Books and field guides are available for purchase.
Check or cash only; no credit cards. There is an ATM on site.

The Wildflower Preservation and Propagation Committee is a nonprofit organization dedicated to: promoting the use of native plants in the landscape through preservation, propagation, and education; advocating the conservation of open space, natural landscapes, wildlife habitat, scenic resources, and water in McHenry County and neighboring areas for the benefit of the general public; engaging in and otherwise promoting the scientific study of and educating the public regarding local natural resources.
There are a number of annual programs including "Natural Garden In Your Yard: A Mentoring Program," a natural landscape seminar, native plant sale and garden walk.
