Individuals can register for Volunteer Center McHenry County's nonprofit winter workshops by visiting volunteercentermchenrycounty.org or calling (815) 344-4483.

Registration fees are typically $20 to $24 per workshop.

Volunteer Center McHenry County delivers services that help strengthen local nonprofit organizations. It provides volunteer recruitment and placement services to increase the local nonprofit's workforce, hosts the McHenry County Human Race, a run/walk 5K financially supporting more than 50 charities on April 24, and has a resource library that has grant-seeker tools. The Volunteer Center is at 620 Dakota St., Crystal Lake on the second floor. Walk-in hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Volunteer Recognition Workshop: Find out how to show value to a workforce that does its job without pay on Jan. 20. Not everything has to cost money. Come ready to share your ideas and learn from others in the field. Led by Jennifer Boston, program manager at Volunteer Center McHenry County. Fee $20 to $24.

Building an Annual Fund: Are you looking for ideas to raise support for the "not so glamorous" costs to run your organization? Learn the nuts and bolts of creating an annual fund to meet your needs on Feb. 2. Led by Danielle Ward, fundraising and communication professional. Fee $20 to $24

Active Assailant Response Training: Understand how to respond effectively while minimizing harm and risk because of an active assailant. Attendees on Feb. 4 will understand the importance of communication before and during an event with employees, first responders, and clients. Led by McHenry County Sheriff's Department. Fee $10 to $15.

Volunteer Management Certificate Program: This day-and-a-half Volunteer Management Certificate Program on Feb. 25-26 will equip you with the skills necessary to increase the impact of your volunteer workforce. Whether you are managing volunteers in a nonprofit, church, civic group, or a community event/project this training will help. Led by Jennifer Boston and Kelly Knighton. Fee $144 to $180.
