CLC professors celebrate the life of Leonard Nimoy
The son of Russian-Jewish immigrants, actor and director Leonard Nimoy lived an amazing life that took him from a childhood in Boston's West End during the Great Depression to becoming an international and multigenerational icon.
In honor of Nimoy's recent passing, College of Lake County sociology professors John and Maria Jose Tenuto will give a free presentation from 7-8:30 p.m. June 16 at the Fremont Public Library, 1170 N. Midlothian Road, Mundelein.
Using documents from their research, along with rare images and videos the Tenutos have been given permission to show, this presentation will show why Nimoy was so beloved and will highlight his many contributions.
Learn about Nimoy's early years in Boston and his acting and directing career, including his many television and film roles and the effect of his iconic "Star Trek" role as Spock.
You'll also learn about Nimoy's commitment to helping preserve the Yiddish language and his work in directing, photography, poetry and philanthropy.
The event is free, but registration is requested. To register, visit www.fremontlibrary.org and click on "Events Calendar."
