• Pam Salomone of North Aurora is the new Public Relations/Special Events Director for the Hinsdale Humane Society in Hinsdale. Previously the marketing manager for the Kane County Chronicle in Geneva, Salomone has 15 years of experience in media and marketing, and has held positions in the radio and television industries as well. She holds a bachelor's degree in communications from Columbia College in Chicago.
• Erica Skibbie of Lombard is the new organist, choir director and piano accompanist for Faith United Methodist Church in Lombard. Skibbie, a senior at Elmhurst College, is currently finishing a degree in music education. Skibbie, an accomplished oboist, has worked with many local school districts as an accompanist for solos, concerts, plays and graduations.
• Kevin Cubala of Bloomingdale received his doctorate from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Chicago. Cubala is a 1995 graduate of Lake Park High School in Roselle. His parents are Maureen and Stanley Cubala.
• Gwen Hines of West Chicago took first place in the Amateur category of the People's Choice Awards at the 2007 Fine Arts Fiesta in West Chicago. Hines' work was called "Warrior Shield," and was done in fabric and acrylic. Mike Bodnar and Britta Renwick, also of West Chicago, tied for second place with their works. Bodnar's "Poppies" was done in oil, and Renwick's "I'll Always Take Care of You" was a photograph.
• Jane Wu of Wheaton was named the 2007 Outstanding Faculty Member by the Illinois Community College Trustees Association. Wu, who has been at the College for 15 years, is the first COD faculty member to earn the statewide award.
