Veterans invited to spaghetti night

Glendale Heights VFW Post 2377 is inviting all local veterans who have served our country since 2001 and their families to Spaghetti with the Vets from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 17 at the post, 142 E. Army Trail Road, Glendale Heights.

The vets will be serving homemade spaghetti they make and are asking those planning to attend to call and make reservations by Monday at (630) 894-1358.

The event also will have information from the Illinois Veterans Affairs office about veteran benefits.

The Glendale Heights VFW and Wood Dale Post 2149 have established a Sgt. Zachary McDonald Foundation for him at the TCF Bank located at local Jewel stores. McDonald was seriously wounded in Afghanistan while serving with the 82nd Airborne. The group also has organized Operation Family Support to recognize families of those who served or are serving.

Comedy night benefits kids

Edward Hospital's 15th annual Comedy Night, "Still Funny After All These Years," offers shows at 7 and 9:30 p.m. May 16 at the Hilton Lisle/Naperville, 3003 Corporate West Drive, Lisle. Symphony closes season Saturday

DuPage Symphony Orchestra closes its season with "Russian Riches" at 8 p.m. May 17 at North Central College's Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave., Naperville. The concert features piano sensation Jung Lin. Tickets: $18 adults, $15 seniors and $8 children. Call (630) 637-1003.

Glen Ellyn Taste opens Friday

The Taste of Glen Ellyn will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. May 16, noon to 10 p.m. May 17 and noon to 7 p.m. May 18 at the Main Street parking lot between Hillside and Duane streets, Glen Ellyn. The event features entertainment, magic and comedy shows, a carnival and craft fair from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 18.
