Mantucca, Redhawks roll on
Marc Mantucca (2-0) scattered 5 hits over 5½ innings as Naperville Central topped West Chicago 7-1 in a DuPage Valley Conference baseball contest. Nick Linne went 2-for-2 with a double for the Redhawks (7-3, 3-1). The Wildcats dropped to 2-7 and 0-3.
Glenbard North 7, WW South 2: A 5-run fifth inning powered the Panthers (2-4, 2-2) to the DuPage Valley Conference win over the Tigers (2-6, 1-1). Complete-game winning pitcher Austin Safranski (1-2) doubled twice.
Glenbard West 3, York 0: The Hilltoppers (4-5, 2-4) won in the West Suburban Silver Conference behind starting pitcher Roger Pope (1-1), who struck out six in 6½ innings.
Lisle 5, Westmont 4: Ryne McGovern's solo homer in the top of the eighth sparked the Lions (6-3, 2-2) to their Interstate Eight Conference win. Jon Kolosky (2-0) struck out 10 in 7 innings to earn the victory. Billy Potter notched the save in the eighth.
Benet 8, St. Joseph 1: Bryan Roberts (2-1) struck out 14, walked one and allowed 1 hit in 6 innings as the Redwings (5-2, 1-0) cruised to the East Suburban Catholic Conference win. Matt O'Rourke went 3-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBI.
Glenbard South 5, Kaneland 4: After scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie it, the Raiders (7-4, 4-1) scored the winning run in the eighth on an RBI single by Trace Wanless. Complete-game winning pitcher Tony Scotellaro improved to 4-0.
Driscoll 10, Immaculate Conception 4: Five runs in the top of the seventh gave the Highlanders (8-2, 1-0) breathing room in their Suburban Catholic Conference win. Kyle Sanders went 3-for-5 with 5 RBI. Anthony Campanella (3-1) pitched 6 innings for the win. Carlos Rodriguez had 2 hits for the Knights (2-7, 0-2).
Montini 6, Marmion 2: Complete-game winning pitcher Andrew Brauer (2-1) blasted a 2-run homer as the Broncos (5-2, 1-0) won in the Suburban Catholic Conference.
St. Francis 3, Aurora Central 2: Trent Anderson (2-0) pitched 6 strong innings for the Spartans (7-1, 1-0) in their Suburban Catholic Conference win. Mike Pugliese drove in a run.
Willowbrook 14, Addison Trail 0: Peter Bonner went 3-for-3 with a double, homer and 5 RBI for the Warriors (7-4, 3-3) in their West Suburban Gold Conference win. Chris Savas had 3 hits and Andy Bejlovec hit a 2-run home run. Brian Morgan (2-1) pitched all 5 innings to earn the win.

Naperville Central 5, Naperville North 1: Erin Graham went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and Natalie Wunderlich struck out 10 for the Redhawks (4-0, 1-0), who topped Naperville North (7-2, 0-1) in a DuPage Valley Conference opener.
Glenbard East 1, WW South 0: The Rams (4-5, 5-2) scored in the top of the seventh when Brittany Cardott reached on a dropped third strike, advanced to third on 2 passed balls and scored on Stephanie Michalowicz's squeeze. Abby Petersdorf earned the DuPage Valley Conference victory.
Lake Park 11, South Elgin 6: Winning pitcher Missy Mazur socked a 3-run homer for the Lancers (5-0, 4-0) in Upstate Eight Conference action.
Glenbard North 14, Wheaton North 3: Bri DiGioia went 3 for 3 with a homer, 2 doubles and 3 RBI, Alyssa Jasinski was 4 for 4 and scored 3 runs and Jenny Nelson belted a 2-run home run, her fourth of the year, to power the Panthers (6-2, 1-0) in the DuPage Valley Conference.
Glenbard South 4, Hinsdale South 1: Winner Jill Trzaska threw a 4-hitter and struck out 12, while Nikki Simpson went 2 for 3 and stole 3 bases for the Raiders (6-2).
Benet 6, Carmel 1: Kaitlin Coari was 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 runs and an RBI and Meghan Eastman twirled a 2-hittter with 12 strikeouts for Benet (6-4, 1-0) in its East Suburban Catholic Conference opener.
Driscoll 8, IC 4: Tarah McShane went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI and Maggie Writt doubled twice in the Suburban Catholic Conference win for the Highlanders (6-7, 1-2).
Addison Trail 9, Willowbrook 3: Melissa Hochheimer smacked a 2-run homer in the top of the first inning and winning pitcher Gina Pizzoferrato went 3 for 5 with 4 stolen bases for the Blazers (3-2, 1-0) in their West Suburban Gold triumph.
Downers South 10, Leyden 0: Kayla Gull went 3 for 3 with a 2-run homer and 4 RBI, Katie Jelinek homered and Jessi Bozek pitched a 2-hit shutout for the Mustangs (6-1, 1-0) in West Suburban Gold action.
West Aurora 2, West Chicago 0: Mary Connolly threw a no-hitter and recorded 17 strikeouts for West Chicago (4-3, 0-1), but West Aurora (10-0, 1-0) still managed to win the DuPage Valley Conference game.
Hinsdale Central 5, Lyons 4: Kate McGivney went 2 for 3 and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh for the Red Devils (3-4, 1-0), who came back from a 4-0 deficit in the final two innings of the West Suburban Silver contest.
Timothy Christian 15-10, Luther South 0-0: Janna Strodtman and Lauren Hansberger each homered in the first game for Timothy Christian (5-2, 4-0), which won the second game of the Private School League doubleheader without the benefit of a hit.
