Animal adoption blitz to start Friday

Sunday marks start of the national celebration week focusing on kindness to animals and their adoption.

In Crystal Lake, the Assisi Animal Foundation will be the lead adoption agency at the PetSmart Store on Route 14 near Route 31.

Other local participating organizations are McHenry County Animal Control, Illinois Animal Rescue, Animal Outreach Society, Helping Paws and Animal House.

The three-day event from Friday to Sunday will feature adoptable pets. Each organization will bring animal candidates who are ready and anxious for new homes. There are no specific times given; call or just stop by.

Not only will pets be at the Crystal Lake PetSmart, but volunteers from each organization will accommodate potential adopters with information on these companion animals as well as advice on their care.
