Culture Club: Immanuel Lutheran Church's Culture Club will discuss "Rhett Butler's People" by Donald McCaig. For fans of Mitchell's "Gone with the Wind," this is a delightful visit with her characters. McCaig holds true to the vibrant personalities and weaves Rhett's side of the story right back into the classic. The club will meet immediately after today's 6 p.m. service, around 7:15 p.m. in Luther Hall C. On May 3, the book will be "World Without End" by Ken Follett. Rosary Renewal: St. Mary Catholic Church, 400 Fulton St. in Elgin, is hosting a Parish Mission titled "Rosary Renewal," at 7 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday. The Rev. Pre-tour concert: On Sunday, the 10:45 a.m. service at First Congregational Church in Crystal Lake will feature the Alleluia Sound and Good Vibrations pre-tour concert. Pasta dinner, silent auction: On Sunday, the youth mission trip participants will host a silent auction beginning at 5 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 340 Grand Blvd., Elgin. They will serve their annual pasta dinner at 5:30 p.m. After dinner, there will a PowerPoint presentation from last year's mission trip to Lake Traverse, South Dakota. Hostas for Heifer: On Sunday, the United Methodist Men's Group at Epworth United Methodist Church will hold their monthly Sunday breakfast. Beginning at 7 a.m., all are welcome to attend the meeting, enjoy a home-cooked breakfast and listen to a presentation given about "Hostas for Heifer." Rich and Susan Eyre of Rich's Foxwillow Pines Nursery, will present the history of their work with Heifer International and information on their ongoing service project, Hosta Happening for Heifer International. This year's Hosta Happening for Heifer International will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 31 and Sept. 6 at Rich's Foxwillow Pines Nursery, 11618 McConnell Road, Woodstock. More than 500 varieties of hostas will be available. All sales benefit Heifer International. Sales are donation based and a charitable deduction may be made by the purchaser. They also are looking for volunteers, year-round, to divide and sell plants for these events. Presentations are available throughout the year for interested churches and groups. Spiritual Entrepreneur Business Networking: The Spiritual Entrepreneur Business Networking group, sponsored by the Center for Spiritual Evolution, is moving its monthly meeting to the center's new location at 204 Spring St., lower level, in Cary. The group meets the second Friday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. to network, showcase their business, set goals, receive small group coaching and support, and exchange business ideas and referrals. It provides a space to talk about New Thought spiritual beliefs in a non-judgmental environment and is open to all spiritually minded entrepreneurs who want to connect with like-minded individuals. The next meeting takes place on April 11. This month, transformation specialist Sharon Cohen is the showcased speaker. After a brief break, they divide into small groups for coaching and support from the other members. Before the end of the meeting, they go around the room and ask everyone to share one goal that they will be working on over the next month, and finish with a closing treatment. Health fair at King of Glory: King of Glory Lutheran Church will host the Living Well Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 12. The community is invited to this event to learn more about their health from a variety of local exhibitors. The event will feature giveaways, free health screenings and free raffle prizes. Style show: The United Methodist Women invite you to a "Style Show by Coldwater Creek with Fashions of Yesteryear" by Judi Brownfield. The program will be at 2 p.m. April 12 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1070 South St., Elgin. Some of the program will be modeled by members of the United Methodist Women. There also will be a musical presentation, led by Pat Ferguson. There will be a buffet of desserts and beverages. Handbell choir hosts supper: St. John Lutheran Church Handbell Choir is hosting their 12th annual spaghetti supper/bake sale from 4 to 7 p.m. April 12 at the church, 13N535 French Road in Burlington. Admission to the all-you-can-eat supper is $5 for adults, $2.50 for children age 6 to 12. Children under age 6 get in free. Bring your family and enjoy some great food and fellowship.

Concert, auction: A special concert event and silent auction called, "A Night to Remember" will take place April 12 at Highland Christian Academy, 2250 W. Highland Ave. in Elgin. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a silent auction and the concert beginning at 7 p.m. Jeorge Holmes, a Judson College alumni and senior pastor at Highland Fellowship Church, will perform the greatest hits of Elvis Presley, Mario Lanza, Frank Sinatra and Luciano Pavarotti and more. Holmes also is a regular performer with the Elgin Opera. The cost to attend the concert is $10 per person. Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling (847) 741-5530 or at the door. All proceeds from the concert and auction will benefit Highland Christian Academy, a school and day-care enrichment for students in preschool through eighth grade for 23 years. Highland Fellowship Church is located half-mile east of Randall Road. The church oversees the private Christian school, Highland Christian Academy, for children in preschool (age 3) through eighth grade.

Spirit of Life: As part of the Spirit of Life Chorus spring concert series, they will be performing "Creating Joy" at 4 p.m. April 13 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 43W301 Plank Road, Hampshire. Other concerts include: 4 p.m. April 6 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 405 S. Rush, Roselle; 5 p.m. April 19 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1244 W.
