Wrap: Huntley soccer wins 10th straight

Ashley Williams connected with Kristina Barretto who put Huntley (10-0, 2-0) ahead of Prairie Ridge where the Red Raiders would stay Tuesday for a Fox Valley Conference Fox Division girls soccer win.

Taylor Henning-Fletter added an insurance goal during the second half, assisted by Rachel Chapius. Sarah Hoffman and Kaytlyn Owens shared time in the net for the Red Raiders, who recorded their eighth shutout of the season.

In goal for Prairie Ridge (1-3, 1-1), Kyli Humm tallied 15 saves.

Girls soccer

St. Charles North 2, Bartlett 1: Going into the second half knotted at 0-0, Bartlett (2-3-2, 2-3-1) got a goal from Luisa DeSario assisted by Fran Abate, but St. Charles North scored twice to defeat the Hawks in Upstate Eight Conference action. Erin Zaidman defended the Bartlett net collecting 9 saves.

Hampshire 1, Harvard 0: With an unassisted goal from Alex Field, Hampshire (4-1-1, 2-0) slipped past Harvard in this Big Northern East Conference meeting. Alex Heinrich preserved the shutout with 4 saves.

St. Edward 7, Driscoll 0: With 7 goals from seven different players, St. Edward (3-2, 2-1) put this Suburban Catholic Conference contest into the win column. Single knocks from Christine Galush, Alex Rubio, Brittany Brozek, Bianca Ramirez, Mallory Malone, Kristi Kuczora and Mackenzie Malone provided offense from both forwards and the entire midfield. Ramirez and Mallory Malone added single assists while Bridget Cholewa assisted on 3 goals.

Taylor Hunsberger (no saves) was in goal for St. Edward.

St. Charles East 4, Streamwood 0: Despite the loss, Pearl Patel had a nice day in goal for Streamwood (4-6-3, 1-2-1) in this Upstate Eight Conference meeting. Patel racked up 8 saves helping hold the Saints to just one first-half goal.

Crystal Lake South 2, Dundee-Crown 0: Danielle Jones and Ashley Ross led the way for the Gators (2-1, 1-0) each putting a goal in the net and assisting each other to lead the Gators past Dundee-Crown for the Gators first Fox Valley (Valley) Conference win. Jessica Taldone was in the net for the first half of the game with 2 saves while teammate Liz Agnes had 1 save in the second half.

Cary-Grove 5, McHenry 0: The Trojans (5-0) remain undefeated shutting out McHenry in the Fox Valley (Valley) Conference. Kelli Anderson scored the first goal off an assist from Liz Bart. Kelsey Passaglia also scored with the help of Taylor Mahoney who managed to assist Ashley Gustafson's goal as well. Sally Pashjian scored the final goal of the first half off an assist from Alyssa Ptasezk. A.J. Wilhelm came back to score the final and only goal of the second half on an assist from Alyssa Baggio. Alex Holland was in the net collecting 3 saves for the Trojans.

Elgin Academy 6, North Shore Country Day 1: Elgin Academy (4-2, 2-2) defeated North Shore Country Day for an Independent School League victory. Lauren Steimle led the way with a pair of goals. Allison Clark (2 assists), Kate Burnham (1 assist), Kristen Cella (1 assist) and Kyla Farquhar all led the way scoring a goal each. Marysia Watson and Gizem Tunca also contributed with an assist. Bianca Swegler was in goal tallying 5 saves.

Jacobs 5, Woodstock 0: Markie Rahn led the Golden Eagles (3-6, 1-0) to victory over Woodstock putting 3 goals away. K.C. Roller, April Kathe and Caitie Quitschau all assisted Rahn's goals. K.C. Roller also snagged a goal off an assist from Kelsey Quitschau. Kelsey Quitschau kept the Golden Eagles going scoring the final goal of the game from an assist from teammate Ashley Bliznick. Caitie Quitschau and Monica Orjuela shared time in the net each collecting 2 saves.

Boys volleyball

Bartlett d. South Elgin: A close contest throughout, Bartlett (9-5, 3-0) picked up this Upstate Eight Conference win over South Elgin (4-9, 1-2) in two games by scores of 25-20, 25-21. John Compolo led for Bartlett with 7 kills. Chris Guimon tallied 3 aces while teammate Jeremy Sanchez collected 9 digs. Jason Theobold also posted 23 assists for the Hawks.

For South Elgin, Andrew Gleason (7 kills, 5 digs), Kevin Mui (5 kills, 3 digs), Akash Patel (2 kills, 6 digs) and Robbie Vasquez (13 asssists) led the way.

Neuqua Valley d. Larkin: The Wildcats defeated Larkin in two tough matches 25-8, 25-21. Brad Potts led with 4 kills and 3 blocks. Joe Leganski also added 2 kills. Brendyn Dobbech collected 6 assist with 1 kill/block. Chase Sand also was busy at the net with 4 blocks for the Royals.
