Buy a poppy and help a veteran
Poppy Days is set for Friday and Saturday.
Donations will be available from 6 to 8 a.m. Friday at the Fox River Grove train station. At the same time donations will be accepted at Lincoln Avenue and Route 14, Algonquin Road and Route 14, and Foxmoor Road and Route 14.
From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday you can make a donation at Dominick's at routes 14 and 22.
All donations will be given to AmVets for hospitalized veterans annual picnic set for June 11.
Fun Fair set in West Dundee
On Sunday, Bethlehem Lutheran Church in West Dundee will host a Fun Fair from noon to 2 p.m. in the church parking lot, 401 W. Main St. There will be free food, hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn from the church youth and free food and activities from area vendors such as Buffalo Wild Wings, Jamba Juice, Olive Garden, Masi's Restaurant, Chili's Restaurant, Opulence Salon and other area vendors. Soda and water will be for sale.
Music will be provided by the Messengers Band during the fun fair. There will be fun activities before the Dundee Township Memorial Day Parade at 2 p.m. For details, call (847) 426-7311.
Shop at Jewel and help the ACRC
The Adult & Child Rehab Center will hold a Shop & Share fundraising program Monday to Wednesday at all Jewel-Osco Stores.
By shopping at Jewel-Osco on one of those days, 5 percent of the total purchases, excluding tax, will be donated by Jewel-Osco to the Rehab Center.
Anyone interested in helping by shopping at Jewel-Osco on those dates will need a "Shop & Share Identification Slip" and should call the Rehab Center at (815) 338-1707.
The Adult & Child Rehab Center provides physical, occupational, speech and lymphedema therapies, as well as nursing care to the residents of McHenry County. The Rehab Center accepts most types of insurance.
