Briefs: School on for Monday in Schaumburg

Schaumburg police and Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 officials have found no credibility to a vague threat scrawled in a girls bathroom stall at Addams Junior High School in Schaumburg that makes reference to Monday. A letter and e-mail to parents was sent by Addams Principal John Schmelzer Friday afternoon, explaining the situation. There are no plans to close school or cancel after-school activities Monday, though the situation continues to be closely monitored by Schaumburg police, Sgt. John Nebl said.

Native plants, advice

Citizens for Conservation is holding its 12th annual native plant, shrub and tree Sale from 9 a.m. to noon today at the group's headquarters, 459 W. Route 22 in Lake Barrington. Experienced native plant gardeners will be on hand to offer advice on plants for butterfly gardens, rain gardens, privacy screening and shaded woodland areas. Call (847) 382- 7283.

Young fliers wanted

Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 101 will hold its next Young Eagles rally from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Schaumburg Regional Airport at the intersection of Irving Park Road and Wright Boulevard in Schaumburg. All youths aged 8 to 17 who show up will get the chance to take their first flight in a private airplane. All attendees can meet with the pilots, see different kinds of aircraft and maybe even get the chance to take control of the plane with the pilot's assistance. Turkish bake sale

Baklava will be in abundance at the Turkish craft and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Sunday at the Turkish American Society of Chicago, 501 Midway Dr., Mount Prospect. Turkish delicacies, knickknacks, jewelry, home decor, toys and books will be available for sale. Also, there will be a presentation on Turkey's historical sites.
