Shameful decision for Wheaton schools

I always thought that when I voted for candidates for our District 200 school board, I was voting for stable, educated adults who were interested in providing superior public education for our students.

The decision made by the board and district administrators with regard to the President's address to school children is way outside the norm of open education.

We are fortunate that our duly elected president is interested in encouraging students to succeed in their studies.

Having a President speak to school children is not a new concept, nor is it an unusual one. Because of the District 200 position, I am relieved that my own children are out of school and truly grateful that my grandchildren are not students of District 200.

The decision is a shameful one.
