Harper falls short against Iowa Western
Harper's football team made its first trip to Council Bluffs, Iowa, but the results were not exactly what the Hawks had in mind.
Iowa Western Community College pulled out a 30-24 victory, giving the Reivers (1-3 in Midwest Football Conference play) their first victory in their inaugural season while the Hawks fell to 2-2 in both categories.
Both teams scored touchdowns the first time they touched the ball.
Harper, which scored on an opening-drive for the fourth straight week, put together a six- play, 72-yard drive.
IWCC answered back with Kevis Streeter returning the kick off 91 yards.
The Hawks led 10-7 at intermission on Keith Wilson's 22 yard field goal with 11:16 left in the second quarter, but Iowa Western answered with a scoring drive to open up second half.
The hosts they gained 333 yards of total offense (184 rushing, 149 passing) and, in turn, ate up nearly 22 minutes of the second-half against the Harper defense.
But Iowa Western took the lead back for on TD passes of 26 and 6 yards from Austin McBeth to William Boughman.

Senior Abby Dickey shot the top score of 79 at the par 73 Glencoe Golf Club to help St. Viator (357) notched second place behind Loyola (346) in the Ramblers' invitational. Dickey finished 2 strokes better than runner-up Somy Kim of Loyola (81). Kelly Sullivan of St. Viator (86) was fourth while the Lions' Hallie Dunn (91) was seventh.
