Northwest suburban sports camps & tryouts

Tryouts and clinics for community sports groups, plus sporting events and tournaments, skate competitions, public appearances by sports stars in the area, autograph signings, sports conventions, etc. Deadline is two weeks before event date.

Men's basketball leagues: Register now for the Mount Prospect Park District's Men's Basketball leagues. Play begins the week of Sept. 13 for 10 weeks. Team registration fee is $575. All games are played at Lions Recreation Center, Mount Prospect. For information, (847) 640-1000.

Palatine Park District: Volleyball and basketball leagues begin Jan. 9 and run through March 13, at Falcon Park Recreation Center. Youth Basketball League: South Barrington youth basketball leagues are available for boys and girls in first-eighth grade. Teams will be formed in late fall and games will be played form January through March 2010. All teams are headed by a volunteer coach and all players receive a participation trophy.
