ECC cop vehicle design wins national competition

The design of the Elgin Community College (ECC) Police Department's patrol vehicles received recognition from "Law and Order Magazine," a national law enforcement publication.

The design-gray lettering across a blue stripe placed against a black sport-utility vehicle-won third place in the colleges and universities category of the magazine's 2009 police vehicle design contest. Judges from four Illinois and Indiana law enforcement agencies liked the contrast of the striping with the white shield and lettering-especially on a large vehicle.

More than 300 police departments throughout the U.S. participated in the design contest. ECC's police vehicles will be featured in the August 2009 issue of "Law and Order."

"To win third place is an honor for the department and it conveys the message that we are a very professional department," said ECC Police Chief Emad Eassa.
