Northwest suburban sports tryouts and camps

Tryouts and clinics for community sports groups, plus sporting events and tournaments, skate competitions, public appearances by sports stars in the area, autograph signings, sports conventions, etc. Deadline is two weeks before event date.

Men's basketball leagues: Register now for the Mount Prospect Park District's Men's Basketball leagues. Play begins the week of Sept. 13 for 10 weeks. Team registration fee is $575. All games are played at Lions Recreation Center, Mount Prospect. For information, (847) 640-1000.

Coed volleyball leagues: Register now for the Mount Prospect Park District's coed volleyball leagues. Play begins the week of Sept. 13 for 10 weeks. Team registration fee is $275. All games are played at Rexplex, in Mount Prospect. For information, (847) 640-1000.

Palatine Park District: Volleyball and basketball leagues begin Jan. 9 and run through March 13, at Falcon Park Recreation Center. Volleyball leagues for grades three, four, five and six; basketball league for grades one and two. Registration will be taken at the Community Center, 250 E. Aug. 13

Baseball 15U and 16U tryouts: 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, Drive Performance, 1543 Abbott Drive, Wheeling. Drive Performance will manage Summer Baseball teams at the 15- and 16-year-old levels. To register, call (847) 229-1009.

Girls fastpitch softball tryouts: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15 and Sunday, Aug. 16, Techny Prairie Parks, 1750 Techny Road, Northbrook.
