Glen Ellyn project to be explained:
A public information meeting about Glen Ellyn's Bryant/Thain's area improvement project will be held 7 p.m. today at the Glen Ellyn Civic Center. The meeting will inform residents about the infrastructure improvement project, which will occur in 2010. The Bryant/Thain's area is just west of the Glen Oak Country Club. It is bounded by Taylor Avenue on the west, Walnut Street on the north, Whitter Avenue on the east and Hillside Avenue on the south.
Roselle chamber honoree:
The Roselle Chamber of Commerce named attorney Gregory Martucci as its 2009 Business Person of the Year. Martucci has been an active member of the Roselle Chamber since 1996, the same year he founded the Law Office of Gregory J. Martucci, P.C. in the village. He has also served on the chamber's board of directors since 1997. He will be honored at the chamber's Annual Holiday Party and Awards Banquet on Friday, Dec. 11. Martucci represents consumers and small business owners and provides numerous hours of pro-bono legal services to indigent clients.
Willowbrook concert:
Willowbrook High School's Percussion Ensembles, Freshman Band, Symphonic Band and Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform holiday music 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, in the school auditorium, 1250 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Tickets may be purchased at the door and cost $3 for adults, $2 for senior citizens and students. Senior Citizen Gold Card and Student Passes are welcome. Children 12 and younger are free.
Bloomingdale chamber lunch:
The Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Holiday and Awards Luncheon from 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at Hilton Indian Lakes Resort, 250 W. Schick Road. A Pac a Fella's A Cappella Group from Lake Park High School will perform and Santa will join the festivities. The cost is $40 per person, cash bar not included. Reservations are required. Addison library closed Friday:
The Addison Public Library, 4 Friendship Plaza, will be closed Friday, Dec. 11, for a Staff In-Service Day. The library will reopen at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12. No materials are due when the library is closed.
