MCCD to hold ice cream social

All ages are invited to join McHenry County Conservation District volunteers in period attire as they recreate the feel of an old-fashioned Ice Cream Social of 1858. Drop in anytime between noon and 4 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at the Powers-Walker House in Glacial Park, 6201 Hart Road in Ringwood.

Share the excitement of the coming of the railroad with the Powers family and their friends. Meet a Cavalry dragoon with his horse on his way westward to help protect the frontier. Take a tour inside the house, which is open to the public only a few times a year. There will be old-time games to play for the young and "young-at-heart" and, of course, ice cream
