Faith in Action names new board chairman
John "Jack" McPhee recently accepted the helm of the Faith in Action governing board.
McPhee has a long history of community service. He served as the mayor for the village of Lake in the Hills from 1972-83. He also served that community as police commissioner, trustee and a member of the economic development commission. His background includes service as a member to the Lake-McHenry Law Enforcement Commission.
His biography appears in the bicentennial edition of "Community Leaders and Noteworthy Americans." He attended the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, Marquette University and University of Michigan at Marquette.
"I am humbled and pleased that the current board of directors has chosen me as its chairman. I look forward to bringing progressive and innovative changes to the services that we provide to our deserving seniors," McPhee stated.
"Faith in Action of McHenry County has proved itself to be a most valuable volunteer service to our seniors, and to that end we look forward to extending ourselves and our services to better benefit our seniors."
Jack and his wife Ellie have been active members of the Faith in Action volunteer corps for a number of months. Ellie volunteers in the office twice per week and Jack is a volunteer driver in addition to his board duties.
Additional newly appointed officers are: Tom Gelinas, vice chair; Gregg Rice, treasurer; Karen Hutchings, recording secretary; and Joy Little, corresponding secretary.
Members at-large include the Rev. Fred Rajan, Robert Blazier, Tom Aquilina and Howard Rigsby.
Faith in Action's mission is to provide services to assist seniors to remain in their homes and an active part of the community for as long as possible.
