Arille Gallione hit a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning Friday to lead Streamwood's softball team to a 6-4 Upstate Eight Conference win over Waubonsie Valley.

Gallione had 2 hits and 4 RBI for the Sabres (2-19, 2-10) and Jen Mellentin had 3 hits. Jenna Szabo was the winning pitcher. She struck out seven.

Cary-Grove 5, Jacobs 4: Alexis Haley had a double and Cary-Grove got the final two outs of the game on plays at the plate to upend Jacobs in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division. Lindsey Marshall (6-7) picked up the win for the Trojans (12-12, 5-4) while Marissa Lombardo suffered the loss for Jacobs (12-10, 6-3), which slipped into a first-place tie in the Valley with Crystal Lake South.

Hampshire 8, Winnebago 2: Ally Kent had a double and Grace Jakubowski had 2 hits to lead Hampshire (9-11-1) to a Big Northern crossover win. Tegan Singleton scattered 4 hits to pick up the win for the Whip-Purs.
