Free supper in Geneva:

The free "Third Tuesday" community supper is from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at United Methodist Church of Geneva, 211 Hamilton St. Carryout is available. The entree is turkey; the full menu is at thirdtuesdaysuppers.com or from the church office, (630) 232-7120.

Aurora looks for nominees:

Aurora will accept nominations through Friday for the 2010 Outstanding African-American Award by the city's African-American Heritage Advisory Board. Agencies, organizations and community members are invited to nominate residents who exhibit leadership, volunteerism and service to the African-American community. The recipient will be honored Feb. 4, 2010. For nominations, call (630) 844-4731 or visit aurora-il.org.

Turkey and hoops:

Win a turkey for your Thanksgiving dinner at the Geneva Park District Turkey Shoot Basketball Tournament Sunday at the Stephen D. Persinger Recreation Center. Participants whose team can make the most basketballs from four spots on the court will win. Teams will consist of one child and one parent or guardian. Children must be ages 8 to 13 to participate, and the cost is $10 per team. Register at genevaparks.org, fill out a registration form and fax it to (630) 232-4569, or register in person at Geneva Community Center, 710 Western Ave., or SPRC, 3507 Kaneville Road. Additions to health program:

Elgin Community College's Pathways to Health Careers Program has added four certificates to allow more students to enter the program; obtain grant funding to pay for their tuition, books and fees; and to attain skills quickly for employment in the health care field. The new study options include: a basic vocational specialist in clinical laboratory assisting and phlebotomy, vocational specialist in histotechnology and vocational specialist certificate in massage therapy. They join current associate degree offerings in clinical laboratory technology, physical therapy assisting, histotechnology and radiography, along with a vocational specialist certificate in dental assisting. Steeple Walk set:

The Geneva Steeple Walk, featuring four churches, is from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 6. Two audience groups attend concerts played simultaneously at two churches, and then switch places. Each group will be led by a Guide, and will visit all four churches. Tickets are $12, and are available at the Geneva History Center, 113 S. Third St., and at downtowngeneva.org and genevarts.org.
