Fall cocktails

We get a lot of seasonal food menu updates in our inbox, but not many just for cocktails. Hearth Lounge at Hyatt Lodge Oak Brook is keeping things fresh this fall with an all-new signature cocktail menu featuring about a dozen fall-inspired cocktails and mocktails.

Highlights include the Pecan Pie Martini made with Sazerac Rye, RumChata, coconut, nutmeg and candied pecans; the Fig & Folly with Jack Daniel’s Bonded Whiskey, fig, lemon, green walnut liqueur and aromatic bitters; and the Lounge Light with Appleton Estate Jamaica rum, allspice, Chinola passion fruit liqueur, aperitif and lime.

For those wanting to go the N/A route, there’s a spirit-free appletini as well as drinks like the Berry Passionate, with Lyre’s White Cane N.A. Spirit, blackberry, passionfruit and lime.

“Wicked: For Good” hits theaters Nov. 21 and Bonefish Grill has a themed dinner on Thursday, Oct. 30, to hold you over until then.

The four-course cocktail pairing dinner features cleverly named pink and green drinks, which of course they describe as “wicked good,” paired with scallops and squash puree to start, followed by a fall scallop and shrimp salad, tequila cream sea bass with lobster ravioli and green apple brownie for dessert.

Their themed dinners usually sell out quickly, so make reservations on their website. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. and is $70 per person. They have suburban locations in Algonquin and Schaumburg.

If you’re further south, on the same night you can visit J. Alexander’s in Oak Brook for the Orin Swift dinner.

It’s the same cocktail, same wine and same price (both restaurants are part of SPB Hospitality), but different menu, which starts with crab-stuffed shrimp, followed by a Parmesan crisp Caesar salad, Steak Diane and pot de creme for dessert.
