Plant sales
Hoffman Estates Garden Club Plant Sale: 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, June 6, at Schaumburg Farmers Market, 190 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg. Member-grown plants including perennials, annuals, dahlias, grasses, hostas, houseplants, vegetables and herbs will be available. The popular Mexican sunflower plants will be back along with a limited number of native plants. 10% of proceeds will be donated to the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry. Arlington Heights Garden Club Plant Sale: 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 7, at Arlington Heights Historical Museum, 110 W. Fremont, Arlington Heights. Because of the increased presence of invasive jumping worms in the area, the club is not selling plants dug from members’ gardens this year. Instead, we are purchasing native plant plugs and raising them in a greenhouse. There will also be annuals, perennials, vegetables, and herbs raised from seeds as well as houseplants, gardening books and other garden items. Native plants that will be sold include Anise Hyssop, Swamp Milkweed, Butterfly Weed, Common Milkweed, Lanceleaf Tickseed Coreopsis, Purple Coneflower, Prairie Blazing Star, Wild Bergamot, Foxglove Beardtongue, Blue Eyed Grass, Ohio Spiderwort, Missouri Ironweed. St. Charles Park District’s Native Plant Sale: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Hickory Knolls Discovery Center, 3795 Campton Hills Road, St. Charles. Plants will be available for purchase on-site and while supplies last. Choose from a wide selection of plants that are native to the region. Garden walks
Lisle Woman’s Club 23rd annual Garden Gait: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, June 8. Starts at the Museums at Lisle Station Park, 921 School St., Lisle. Five gardens throughout Lisle are featured, along with a local Lisle park that is host to many varieties of plants. Advance tickets are $20; day of tickets are $25. Also featured will be more than 30 vendors and raffle baskets highlighting local restaurants, The Morton Arboretum and other themes. Proceeds benefit local charities and high school scholarships.
Arlington Heights Garden Club Garden Walk and Unique Boutique: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 22. Pick up wrist bands and get directions at Arlington Heights Historical Museum grounds, 110 W. Fremont St. Tour private homes and institutional gardens throughout Arlington Heights. Tickets available now at www.ahgardenclub.com/gw-ub. Tickets can also be purchased at our plant sale on June 7, at the AH Farmers Market on June 14 & 21, and at Village Bank and Trust in Arlington Heights. Tickets are $15 before the walk and $20 day of walk. Unique boutique is free to shop on the grounds of the museum from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors will feature items for home and gardens.
