Tourism growth boosting revenues for Northwest suburbs
A 6.1% increase in overnight hotel stays helped bring in a quarter-billion dollars of revenue to the eight suburbs represented by the Meet Chicago Northwest visitors bureau in 2024. And those roughly 3 million stays do not include the additional revenue brought to the area by business and leisure travelers, bureau President Heather Larson said.
Twin Peaks restaurant coming to Algonquin in March
Twin Peaks restaurant is bringing its food and drinks to Algonquin. The sports lodge, which proudly touts its 29-degree draft beer served in frosted mugs, offers a menu of scratch-made food and handcrafted cocktails. The company said they plan to open in March in Algonquin Commons at 1520 S. Randall Road.
Homebuilder proposes development for Naperville office site near I-88
M/I Homes is looking to develop 64 single-family townhouses on a roughly 12-acre property along the I-88 corridor that is currently home to the Illinois Health and Hospital Association. The brick building, surrounded by trees, is less than a mile west of the intersection of Warrenville and Naperville roads; the area to the west is owned by the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.
B’s Sweet Bites in Des Plaines to close permanently
A Des Plaines restaurant and bakery is closing permanently after more than 11 years. B’s Sweet Bites, 1641 Oakton Place, will serve its last meals and sweet treats Feb. 14.

A national chain of coffee stands is building a new one in Palatine. 7 Brew Drive Thru Coffee will open at 1572 N. Rand Road, near the busy corner of Rand and Dundee Road.
At Home store on west side of Schaumburg closing May 1
The At Home interior decor store that opened on the west side of Schaumburg in autumn 2019 will close May 1. Commercial real estate brokerage firm CBRE is listing as available the 95,350-square-foot space at 101 Barrington Road in the Prairie Towne Center.
After revisions, 15-home subdivision approved in Lake Zurich
A 15-home subdivision has approvals to proceed in Lake Zurich after incorporating several changes based on talks with neighbors and village officials. As planned, Meadow Wood East will be built on eight undeveloped acres east of Rand Road and north of Miller Road, with five models and prices starting at $600,000 and up.
