Deerfield Humor Columnist Wins Top Honors from Best Indie Book Awards
Humor columnist Dave Jaffe has racked up another award for his multiple award-winning Sleeping between Giants Book 2, Ask a Terrier: Professional Advice from a Licensed Dog, even though his dog Budleigh did most of the work.
Sleeping between Giants Book 2 has been named Winner in the Humor/Satire category of the 2023 Best Indie Book Award.
The annual Best Indie Book Award (or BIBA) is an international literary award contest recognizing independent authors.
Earlier this year, Sleeping between Giants Book 2 won a 17th Annual National Indie Excellence Award (NIEA) and recently was named a winning finalist in two categories by the 20th Annual Best Book Awards (BBA).
Book 2 is the stand-alone sequel to Sleeping between Giants Book 1: Life, If You Could Call It That, With A Terrier, winner of the 2021 International Book Awards for Humor and the Indies Today 2019 Best Humor Book Award.
Sleeping between Giants Book 1 explores the highly successful, though often confusing relationship between Canines and Giants through essays and cartoons created by the author and drawn from his national award-winning blog. Book I offers great wisdom about life, liberty, and the pursuit of rabbits from former shelter dog Budleigh the Terrier, his older and far less cunning co-dog Brisby, and a host…well, pack of dog park locals.
In Sleeping between Giants Book 2, Ask a Terrier: Professional Advice from a Licensed Dog, Budleigh the Terrier is back! And this time, he's dispensing crucial advice to Giants and Canines on everything from space travel and sniffing Covid, to giving a TED Talk and shopping for purses.
As one reviewer wrote, "Budleigh is the Dear Abby of pooches. Or maybe Dear Abby is the Budleigh of advice columnists."
Dave Jaffe's work has appeared in a wide range of outlets, from HumorOutcasts and HuffPost to National Public Radio and The National Lampoon. He even wrote sketches for Bozo the Clown, although a merciful History has forgotten the "Bozo Juggles Invisible Chainsaws" bit. His humor columns and commentary have twice been honored with Peter A. Lisagor awards by the Chicago Headline Club, the Parenting Publications of America Gold Award for Humor, and multi-year awards from the National Society of Newspaper Columnists.
