Repeat Boutique to celebrate 50 years of serving refugees, those in need on Oct. 13

To celebrate 50 years of serving refugees and other people in need, Repeat Boutique in Carol Stream invites the public to an open house on Friday, Oct. 13. It will be 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the store, 191 S. Gary, Suite 140.

Live music and refreshments will be served, before the festivities move at 6 p.m. to the Lombard Gospel Chapel at 369 N. Stewart in Lombard.

Repeat Boutique is an all-volunteer Christian organization that accepts donated clothes and houseware items from the community, and gives them for free to referred people in need.

Wheaton resident Gaile Benson launched Repeat Boutique in 1973 from her home, which led to expansion and a move to its current site next to partner World Relief.

For the first half of 2023, Repeat Boutique has served more than 5,000 people, which is a 70% increase from previous years.

In a recent month, Repeat has served people from 39 countries, speaking 24 languages including people from the Ukraine, Russia, and nine Spanish-speaking countries.

While the need has increased, financial donations have waned, and Repeat Boutique seeks the community support to keeps its doors open.
