Cary-Grove Masons sponsor Academic Bowl

For this year's Illinois Masonic Bowl, Cary-Grove Masonic Lodge sponsored two teams: Elgin Academy and Winnebago High School.

Winnebago scored in first place in their division.

The Illinois Masonic Academic Bowl, which began in 1983, is a quiz-based competition between Illinois high school scholastic bowl teams that tests the players on a wide variety of academic subjects taught in Illinois high schools.

This annual tournament, sponsored by the Masons of Illinois, is coordinated through the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Illinois. The goal is to provide positive recognition for academic excellence.

The competition began with 262 schools statewide at the sectional level and culminated with the finals in Bloomington.

Cary-Grove Lodge #1157 hosted the winners, families and friends of Elgin Academy to a pizza dinner celebration at their Lodge in Cary.
