Ash Wednesday and the Lenten season at Christ Church offers hope
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent and an opportunity to make time to examine our lives, look at the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus and let go of anything that keeps us from living the life for which we were created.
Christ Church invites the public to in person and online worship for Ash Wednesday services on Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. at both its Oak Brook campus at 501 Oak Brook Road and its Butterfield location at 2S361 Glen Park Road in Lombard.
"Ash Wednesday and Lent comes alive when it ceases to be about ritual and moves towards relationship." said Dr. Eric Haskins, Pastor of Spiritual Formation. "On Ash Wednesday we will glean from the actions of a small child who simply gave to Jesus what he had and watched in wonder as Jesus blessed the many. Our hope is that this will be true for us as we keep Lent individually and communally - watching in wide eyed wonder how Jesus will bless others through what we offer to Him along our Lenten journey."
The imposition of ashes will be administered at each campus between 7 to 8:30 a.m. and noon to 1:30 p.m. as well as at the 7 p.m. worship. For more information, visit ChristChurch.us/ash.
