Six DuPage area League of Women Voters join in nationwide Election Heroes Day of Action April 12
The League of Women Voters of the United States has declared April 12, 2022, as a nationwide "Thank Election Heroes Day of Action."
The League of Women Voters of Downers Grove-Woodridge-Lisle, Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Naperville, Roselle-Bloomingdale, and Wheaton will join this national effort thanking DuPage County election workers for being the backbone of democracy.
Election judges, poll workers, election clerks, and countless other volunteers compromised their health and safety throughout the pandemic to ensure votes could be safely cast and every vote would be accurately counted.
During the pandemic, Americans turned out in record numbers to cast their ballots to have their voices heard. Voting in elections is how We, the People, have a say in the decisions that impact our lives - from jobs in our communities to the healthcare we have access to.
For over 100 years, the League of Women Voters has worked to ensure access to the ballot box. Without these dedicated election workers, the individual "Voice of the Voter" expressed through their cast vote, would be unheard. We applaud and thank them all.
