Glen Ellyn Park District offering old school rolling skating fun for a new generation

Parents seeking a recreation opportunity for their kids will have a new option beginning this fall.

The Glen Ellyn Park District has teamed up with Revolution Skate Studio in Lombard to offer roller skating classes for ages 3-10.

Roller skating has been a recreational activity enjoyed by people of all ages for hundreds of years.

Whether it's indoors or outside, roller skating is a great pastime that anyone can learn and a terrific form of exercise.

Tiny Tot Roller Skating (ages 3-5) and Basic Roller Skating (ages 6-10) will be taught by Revolution's nationally certified coaches and take place at their facility at 1300 S. Main St. in Lombard.

Throughout the programs, students will focus on balancing, stepping forward and backward, and learning tricks. Games and activities will give the kids opportunities to perfect their skills. Medals will be presented to students each time they learn eight new skills.

Skate rentals are included with the classes, and all skaters will receive a free t-shirt. Tiny Tot classes are $135 per child, $155 for the Basic Roller Skating.

Tiny Tot Roller Skating will be offered: 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 3 to Oct. 8; 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 4 to Oct. 9; and 9:35 to 10:20 a.m. Saturdays, Sept. 7 to Oct. 12.

Basic Roller Skating classes will be: 5:25 to 6:25 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 3 to Oct. 8; 5:25 to 6:25 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 4 to Oct. 9; and 1 to 2 p.m. Saturdays, Sept. 7 to Oct. 12.
