Healthy West Chicago to host 5K Fun Run/Walk Aug. 24

Healthy West Chicago is hosting a 5K Fun Run/Walk with Free Kiddie Dash on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Reed-Keppler Park, 129 W. National St. in West Chicago.

All are welcome to join in the day of fun which will kick off with a 5K Fun Run/Walk followed by a 100-meter Kiddie Dash.

The 5K race will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the Kiddie Dash to follow. Registration for the event can be found at bit.ly/3382his.

All participants will receive a race day T-shirt.

To be guaranteed the size needed, participants must register online before Saturday, Aug. 10.

Registration also will be available on the day of the event, opening at 7 a.m.

Healthy West Chicago is offering an early online registration discount of $5 with the promo code: HEALTHY until Saturday, Aug. 10, at 11:59 p.m.

There are additional discounts for students and West Chicago residents. The Kiddie Dash is free for children, age 6 or younger, however, registration is still required.

Awards will be distributed to one overall male/female winner and one male/female winner in each age category. All children in the Kiddie Dash will receive a finisher's ribbon.

Other fun features of the day include:

• Cooking demonstrations conducted by West Chicago's own The Kitchen Table, a family-owned and operated catering company who also conduct cooking classes for children.

• Face painting and games on the lawn

• Various vendors including Midwest Strength and Performance, The Kitchen Table, Lions Panzek Martial Arts, and more.

All proceeds from the race will be used for Healthy West Chicago's sustainability and continuation of community programming for West Chicago residents.
