Fox River Valley DAR Chapter welcomes new members

On Saturday, June 8, the Fox River Valley Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution held its annual meeting and luncheon. The chapter installed six new officers and was honored to welcome four new members.

The Fox River Valley Chapter is the four-peat grand prize winner of the DAR Spread the American Spirit Contest.

The chapter hosts free genealogical workshops for prospective members to find and prove their lineage to a Revolutionary War patriot and assists with new member applications.

The chapter also hosts the DAR Good Citizens Program and Scholarship Contest, which are intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship.

The students selected as the school's DAR Good Citizen must have the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism to an outstanding degree.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism. Its members are descended from the patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War. With nearly 185,000 members in approximately 3,000 chapters worldwide, DAR is one of the world's largest and most active service organizations. Members are committed to volunteer service having served more than 12.5 million hours in communities throughout the world during the past three years.
