MCC Art Gallery features two artists' sculptural work

McHenry County College is featuring "Structural Fragments," a 3-D art exhibit by area artists Matt Hosey and Steven Lockwood, through Dec. 6 in Gallery One and Two, located inside and outside the library.

According to the artists' statement, "Our environment is an architectural structure manufactured by living." Lockwood's work speaks on the feeling of tension and the reliability of construction to prove strength or fragility, while Hosey's work focuses on the notions of construction and demolition. Both artist's work involves a somewhat obsession experimenting with different materials, from concrete to wood and various different techniques in order to define a strong structure."

"Whether it's the idea of being strong enough to hold the weight of the world, or the demolition and reconstruction we witness, in this exhibit, visitors will see a deep exploration of different materials and tools used to construct something in hopes of relating it to the chaos and order of the everyday," the artists said.

The college is at 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake.
