MCC to host second annual Small Business Fair
McHenry County College will host a Small-Business Fair from 8 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, in the MCC Gym at the college, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.
The Small Business Fair offers something for everyone - students and community members can learn about various business opportunities in the direct sales industry and aspiring or existing small business owners can receive resources and tools to help them become more successful.
Attendees can learn about small-business opportunities, attend lightning round professional exchange sessions on how to start, market and operate a small business, attend a free 15-minute session with experts in marketing, banking, law, accounting, graphic arts and other industries.
Sherry Ridge, business instructor and chairwoman of the small business fair said that many small business owners have their first entrepreneurial experience in direct sales, so the fair provides an opportunity to promote opportunities in the direct sales industry as well as provide resources for small-business owners.
"We're excited to offer this event again to our students and community members," Ridge said. "This has been a joint effort to promote and educate everyone about the county's small business opportunities in the direct sales industry."
In addition, anyone interested in becoming entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to speak with experts on how to start, market and operate a small business. The Illinois Small Business Development Center will be available to answer questions and to provide resources for those looking to start a business.
The Small Business Fair is sponsored by the MCC Business Department, MCC Student Business Club and the MCC Career Services Department.
The fair is free and open to the public. Cost for exhibitors is $35.
Direct sales companies and franchise owners who would like to exhibit may register through Oct. 16 at www.mchenry.edu/smallbiz.
