Advocate Lutheran General Hospital Named Among Best in Illinois and Chicago by U.S. News & World Report
Recognized for delivering exceptional patient care, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital has been recognized among the finest in Chicago and Illinois, according to U.S. News & World Report's 2018-2019 Best Hospitals list. Lutheran General tied for tenth in Illinois and tied for ninth in the Chicago Metro Area.
Lutheran General was also recognized as high performing in six medical specialties: Cancer, Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Geriatrics, Orthopedics, Pulmonology and Urology in addition to four common adult procedures: Heart Failure, Colon Cancer Surgery, Hip Replacement and Knee Replacement.

In all, U.S. News & World Report honored 10 Advocate hospitals with recognition this year: Advocate Children's Hospital, Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn; Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove; Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin; Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, Advocate Trinity Hospital in Chicago and Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.
Of those, nine hospitals are distinguished as Best Regional Hospitals and two - Advocate Children's and Advocate Good Samaritan - rank nationally. Four Advocate facilities ranked in the Top 10 both within Illinois and the Chicago metro area.
Now a part of Advocate Aurora Health, the 10th largest not-for-profit health care system in the U.S., the Advocate sites join six Aurora Health Care sites on the overall U.S. News Best Hospitals list, including Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, ranked the No. 2 hospital in Wisconsin and a top national hospital.
For the 2018-19 rankings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. In the 16 specialty areas, 158 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty. In rankings by state and metro area, U.S. News recognized hospitals as high performing across multiple areas of care.
