Northwestern Medicine receives Governor's Volunteer Service Award

The Northwestern Medicine employee volunteer program, Team NM, is a 2018 recipient of a Governor's Volunteer Service Award.

Presented by the Serve Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service, the statewide honor recognizes Northwestern Medicine's continuous volunteer efforts throughout DuPage County.

"Team NM is an example of our commitment to delivering the same caliber of care beyond the physical boundaries of Northwestern Medicine, to improve the overall health and well-being of the communities we serve," said Ann Marie Andexler, Team NM coordinator and program coordinator, Community and Government Affairs. "We are proud to stand together as an organization and care for those that are most in need."

With more than 1,300 Northwestern Medicine employee and physician volunteers, Team NM has supported a variety of local causes, including the DuPage County River Sweep, DuPagePads, Big Heart Foundation, Young Hearts for Life, and FORWARD DuPage.

In addition to areas served by Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital and the Northwestern Medicine Regional Medical Group, Team NM reaches all of the Chicago area by offering employees quarterly volunteer opportunities, community partner information and a vast amount of resources to help staff find the best way to serve in their community.

The award was presented April 18 in Springfield at the Serve Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service event.
