Celebrate Catholic Schools Week at Prince of Peace

Prince of Peace Catholic School, a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon school, announces that Catholic Schools Week will take place from Jan. 28 to Feb. 3.

National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. It starts the last Sunday in January and runs all week. The theme for the National Catholic Schools Week 2018 is "Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed."

Prince of Peace observes the annual celebration week with Masses, open houses and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members.

Through these events, Prince of Peace, as well as other Catholic schools across the United States, focus on the value that Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to its church, communities and nation. National Catholic Schools Week is celebrating its 44th year in 2018.

Prince of Peace invites the community to get to know it better during this week. Community members are invited to an Open House from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28. There will be tours of the school and state-of-the-art Parish Life Center.

Additionally, attendees can view the school's seventh- and eighth-grade science fair projects and take a step back in time with the fifth grade while they re-enact the colonial days.

Other events to which the community is invited include a school Mass at 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29; the eighth grade vs. faculty volleyball game at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31; and the student-led Talent Show at 1:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2. Check in at the office for the volleyball game and the talent show.

"We value our student body as well as our faculty, staff and parents at Prince of Peace. Catholic Schools Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate them as well as the importance of Catholic education," said Brenda Baldassano, principal of Prince of Peace.

"We also value our parishioners and local community, and appreciate all that ours do for us, so we are pleased to open several of our events to local families and friends. We hope to see you and to welcome you to our school."
