McHenry County College to host seminar on indoor plants
Celebrate National Indoor Plant Week at McHenry County College and learn how indoor plants can improve the quality of your life.
The MCC Horticulture Department will host a seminar from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, in the college's Luecht Conference Center, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.
Mark Martin, MCC adjunct horticulture instructor and MCC Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, will explain how indoor plants can remove toxic chemicals from the air, help people reduce stress, lower the number of sick days and generally make people happy. He will also describe how to select the ideal plant for the correct location as well as how to care for these air-cleaning plants.
Martin won the People's Choice Award for "Best New Idea" from the Tropical Plant Industry Exhibition for creating National Indoor Plant Week, a new interiorscape industry holiday.
Every attendee will receive a free indoor plant. This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required. For more information, contact the MCC Conference Center at (815) 455-8764.
