McHenry Co. Health Dept. to be on hand at county fair

The McHenry County Department of Health is bringing its trailer to the county fair. Staff will be on hand to answer questions about topics ranging from being prepared for emergencies to pet adoption. Look for the trailer with the big green "MCDH" logo on the side.

Stop by Wednesday or Thursday, Aug. 5 and 6, to have your heart health and blood pressure checked at no cost. For $25, you also can get your cholesterol and blood sugar screened. All tests are non-fasting and private with results available immediately. Test results will be given to participants so they may share them with their doctors.

According to Patti Corn, emergency response facilitator, "We're excited to offer some of our services to people attending the fair. This is the first year that we've brought our Emergency Response trailer to the fair and we're optimistic that fairgoers will take advantage of how easy it is to stop by and get a few questions answered."

The MCDH Trailer with the big green logo will be at the fair each day, beginning Tuesday, Aug. 1 through the final day of the fair, Sunday Aug. 6. Different topics will be highlighted each day. You can find a complete listing of days and topics at www.mcdh.info.

If you aren't able to stop by our trailer at the fair, but are interested in having your heart health checked, make an appointment for the First Wednesday wellness check. As at the fair, heart health, blood pressure and BMI will be checked at no cost. Cholesterol and blood sugar screening is $25.

Appointments can be made by visiting www.mcdh.info, or calling (815) 334-4510.
