McHenry County Health Dept. to host residential recycling event May 20

McHenry County Department of Health will host a one-day residential recycling extravaganza from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 20, in the north parking lot of the McHenry County Administration Building, 667 Ware Road in Woodstock.

Hosted by McHenry County Department of Health, the following items from residential sources will be accepted: paint (latex paint, latex/water based stains, oil based paint and oil based stains in original containers), confidential paper documents (will be shredded on-site for recycling), clothing and household textiles (including paired shoes, belts, purses and backpacks), single-use alkaline batteries (AA, AAA, C, D, button cell and 9-volt only), Styrofoam, packing peanuts, Bubble Wrap, fluorescent lamps and CFLs. Recycling fees apply to the fluorescent lamps and CFLs.

Residents may bring documents with staples, paper clips, small spiral bindings, file folders with small metal pieces, and cellophane envelope windows. Please remove all binder clips, three-ring plastic binders and any larger metal pieces as we cannot accept these items. Periodicals, magazines, or other paper that does not contain sensitive or confidential information should be recycled in your regular curbside recycling service. No spray or aerosol paint products, varnish or water sealant products, solvents or chemicals, driveway sealer or roofing products will be accepted. This recycling event is for residential items only.

This recycling event is made possible by Accurate Document Destruction Inc., Battery Solutions, Chicago Logistic Service, Chicago Textile Recycling, Environmental Defenders of McHenry County, Home of the Sparrow, McHenry County Department of Health, and Paint Disposal Services.
