Help local charities by signing up for McHenry County Human Race
Seventy-three local charities have joined the McHenry County Human Race. The 5K walk/run will take place at 8 a.m. Sunday, April 23, at McHenry County College in Crysta Lake.
The event lets individuals choose which organization will receive the proceeds of their race registration. Individuals can also fundraise for the organization of their choice.
Individuals can register online until Friday, April 21, for $40 at www.mchumanrace.org.
Walk-in registration is $45 and will be taken at packet pick-up from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, and race day from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. in the cafeteria (Building B). Children ages 10 and younger can register for $15. Individuals can use credit cards for registrations and donations at MCC.
More than 1,000 individuals are expected to race this year. Medals will be given to all registered children 10. The top male and female will receive a prize and award. Medals will be given to the first three individuals to complete the race in various age categories.
Volunteer Center Mchenry County provides $2,400 in prize money for agencies including: the $600 McHenry County Community Foundation Award to the organization with the most runners and walkers, the $400 Illinois State Bank Award to the top fundraiser's organization of choice, and the $400 Medtronic Award to the top fundraising organization. The race includes an expo of nonprofit organizations, and a few local businesses. Run, walk, then volunteer!
