CLC co-sponsors December events on environmental sustainability
Learn about energy-saving successes at the College of Lake County and watch documentaries on climate change at December events co-sponsored by the College of Lake County. The following programs are free and open to the public:
Sunday, Dec. 4: Sneak peek preview of "Years of Living Dangerously" TV documentary. The National Geographic Channel series focuses on impacts of climate change. View "Uprising," an episode that includes efforts by Clean Power Lake County, an environmental group and event co-sponsor, to find alternatives to burning coal. The screening will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4 at the Greenbelt Cultural Center, 215 Green Bay Rd., North Chicago.
Tuesday, Dec. 6: Community Partners for Sustainability meeting. David Husemoller, CLC sustainability manager, will highlight the college's success in increasing energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Learn about projects ranging from the new geothermal loop to the new Science and Advanced Technology Building that opens in 2017. Participants may also help plan the 2017 Lake County Green conference, sponsored by the college April 28. The Dec. 6 event begins with an 8 a.m. breakfast/networking session, followed by an 8:30-10 a.m. program. Location: Conference Room C003, Lower Level C Wing, Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake. Sponsored by CLC, Community Partners for Sustainability has free membership and is open to Lake County citizens, businesses, schools and government agencies. Thursday, Dec. 8: Screening of "Years of Living Dangerously" TV documentary. View "Safe Passage," an episode that chronicles local efforts of the Citizens' Climate Lobby, an international environmental group and event co-sponsor, in bringing together congressional representatives from across the aisle to address climate change. The showing is at 6:30 p.m. in Conference Room C003, Lower Level C Wing, Grayslake Campus.
