McHenry Co. health department updates public health ordinance

The McHenry County Board of Health is proposing revisions to the McHenry County Public Health Ordinance.

The proposed changes have been approved by the board of health and require review and adoption by the McHenry County Board. The major changes to the ordinances include elimination of redundant requirements; clarification and updating of definitions and language; and reformatting and renumbering of the individual articles for clarity and consistency.

The changes also include minor technical updates in food, sewage, water and animal control primarily to assure compliance with minimum state requirements. A copy of the draft ordinance is available for review on the department's webpage, www.mcdh.info.

The McHenry County Department of Health is inviting public comment on the draft ordinance. Comments and questions can be submitted via email to health@co.mchenry.il.us, directly to staff at (815) 334-4510.

Or attend one of these two public meetings at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at McHenry County Department of Health, 2200 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock; and 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at McHenry County Department of Health, 100 N. Virginia St., Crystal Lake.

All comments will be summarized and provided to the county board for consideration. Staff anticipates the draft ordinance will be reviewed by the public health and human services committee at its joint meeting with the board of health Monday, Oct. 24. It will be placed on 30-day review following presentation to the county board in November.
