Frassati Catholic Academy offers Robotics Club

The Consortium of Lake County is a Catholic school system designed to offer students an exceptional learning environment and teach students to aim "verso l'alto," or "toward the top," similarly as that of the Consortium's patron, Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati.

Students from Frassati Catholic Academy have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities and extracurriculars to push themselves "verso l'alto." Many are doing so through an after school program called the Robotics Club, which is sponsored through 4H and led by a parent volunteer. This year the students are preparing for a competition in April.

Students Charlie McEwen and Arianna Conzelman practiced by working on a model robot they are using to learn how to make a robot, complete tasks such as grabbing and moving side-to-side and adding touch and color sensors. All of these elements are tasks that can be added to their very own design for the competition.

Sixth-grader Celestine Dam said the best part of the Robotics Club is teamwork.

Emma Dinitz, a new student at the Consortium this year, says the best part is "meeting new people."

Many students expressed the Robotics Club is a great way to express creativity, have flexibility and ownership, as well as have fun with friends.
