Former heroin addict brings program to Crystal Lake
Tim Ryan, former Crystal Lake resident, national ranked barefoot water-skier, business entrepreneur, father and former heroin addict, lost everything and grasped into recovery in the Illinois Department of Corrections on his second stay.
Now more than two and a half years clean and sober, he lives a life of recovery. He lost his 20-year-old son to a heroin overdose on his 21-month sobriety date.
Ryan has taken his 28-year struggle with drinking and drugs and applied his business skills to turn his life around with the focus on taking people from "Dope to Hope."
As executive director and founder of A Man In Recovery Foundation, he will bring the DARE2KNOW program to Crystal Lake at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, at Park Place, 406 W. Woodstock St. This is a free event.
You will learn what to look for in a loved one lost in addiction, tools for the solution such as Narcan, cellphone and computer monitoring software, and drug test kits free to the public, as well as what to do and where to go if an addict is lost in the grips of addiction.
There will be Narcan training on-site and resource tables.
